Convertible Care

Hey everyone,

Just wondering what everyone does to clean / protect their convertible tops. Anything in particular I should do or avoid? I know I wont go to any automatic car washes, but is there anything else I need to avoid?

Matt, your top can be washed just like the rest of the car, one product that many people have used (including myself) is called RAG TOP. find it at properautocare.com you only need to apply it once or twice a year, it will seal the top and help repel water, gary

I know the convertible top comes Scotch Guarded from the factory, and I was told not to use any "harsh" soaps on it. Any idea what that would mean? I am guessing any norming car wash soap should be fine then?

Thanks for the info on Rag Top, I checked it out at that website - I'll have to order some within a couple weeks.

When they say harse, (ones to stay away from ) that would be like 409/simple green or luandry detergent, car wash soap is fine. gk

I was looking for the same type of info. I just bought a black Touring Edition Convertible and the top is quite dusty. The dealer cleaned it up quite a bit, but I would still like to clean it up better.....call me anal.

I'm assuming that it is not good to wash it with the high pressure wand washs or can you do that? I will look into getting the RAG TOP product and go from there.
