'06 PT LE w/28k, Linen ext./Tan int. The dealer was a nightmare, 3 requests to get stains out of seats with no results. (He also tried to send me home with no brake lights, a busted left front axle, no stem caps, tires w/25 lbs. air, etc.. but that's for another thread
)I love detailing anyway, so I gave it my best shot(s) - Blue Coral Uphosltery Cleaner, Mr. Clean/vinegar, Simple Green. Worked OK, but not completely. I don't want to be worrying about water stains on top of the other ones! What works for you folks? Thanks! |

Hello again. Two things that I use for getting stains out and protection are "SCOTCH GARD" and Turtle Wax OXY POWER OUT. Both made for cars.
The Scotch Gard of course is used before you get any stains and I use a whole large can when I first get the car. Wife just got a new KIA Cross Over and I coated everything including the backs of the seats, headrests, rer cargo area and even the floor mats hoping to avoid future stains. The Turtle Wax OXY POWER OUT (upholstery cleaner) comes with it's own scrub brush on the lid and does a pretty good job of getting out stains. But I do go after the stain as soon as I ntice them. Yours might have been in and set for quite awhile.

Kim,
The OXY POWER OUT Upholstery Cleaner doesn't list the types of material it cleans. It does list the types of things it's good for, ie: coffee, make-up, ink, juice, ketchup, mustard, grease, oil, mud and dirt. It does say to test it in an inconspicuous area first. I know for a fact that it takes coffee stains out as my wife (in her brand new car) spilled some of that expensive $3.50 a cup coffee into the driver seat and it sat there for a full day leaving a brown stain with darker brown around the edge. The OXY stuff got it out.

Meguiar's has a new product called Quik Out, developed in conjunction with Bissell. The stuff works great and you can usually find it at Target, WalMart, etc.

Thanks, Skylight and everybody else. I have made some headway with the stains, but now I've got dark rings around them from water/cleaners/etc.
Thinking about maybe steamcleaning the upholstery or replacing it (?) if that doesn't work. I don't know what the stains are - coffee, Coke, etc. - or how long they've been there.

The best stain remover I have ever seen is called "Amaze", and would remove tar and oil stains as well as coffee stains from the carpet and seats. You buy the concentrate and dilute with water. For a while it was sold door to door here in california, but I haven't seen it for a while. I have been looking in stores, but so far no luck. It did such a good job you could never tell where the stain was, just spray it on and dry with a paper towel. I couldn't believe how well it worked. The wife was using it on my jeans and shirts after working on the cars before washing them to remove stains. If you find this stuff buy it, and let us know where to get it!
