Default In between windows

I have the factory black areas between my windows. They have spots and look faded (not faded, just a lot of spots). What is the best to fix that problem. I have seen cars with chrome there. Is that the best solution?
C.

A lot of owners have that problem and either acid rain or soap from the automatic car washes were to blame. If it's not too bad, there's a couple things from the auto store to try and get it back to shine, but if you like the covers (they comes in chrome, brushed aluminum etc.) then that's an easy answer. Also, some owners have painted them body color to match the car.

I must admit that I prefer the pillars to be the same colour as the body, as 1wedwudy's car shows. As a convertible owner, I don't have to worry about this though. Just my thoughts.

Regards
Terry

I like the painted look too!! I have a 2006 and mine are black too but so far I haven't had any fading problems. I do including them with waxing my car and in between I use Meguiar's Quick Detailer. Works awsome, it's also great for removing water spots from windows. I'm also concerned about the rubber molding around the windows fading and/or oxidizing. I will take a Q-tip and armoral and go around and get all those, I use a rag to remove excess, makes the car look alot cleaner too.

GracefulSpice, I have had 2 PT's and neither had a rubber seal problem. Remember that anything with petroleum agents WILL break down rubber , so be careful what you put on them.

Wow!! I never knew that. Is there anything else to use on them or just a basic wash when you wash the car? Shame, cause it sure made them look shinny too.

The only thing I have ever used was products I bought from Gary Kouba who ran a detail shop near Chicago. He has since sold the business and the buyer has been selling products. His website is Perfect Auto Finish - Kevin Traver - Auto Detailing Phone # 1-630-947-2090. What I have used on the rubber is called Ultimate Dressing, it is a water based formula.

Lots of good info on his website. Gary's handle on here is turbomangt !!!

Good Luck

Thanks for the Info!!!
Oh by the way. I've been to Merritt Island a few times. My mother-inlaw lives in Melbourne. Nice little town. We hope to play the role of Snow Birds this winter and visit again in Jan/Feb.

Many of us on the forum have been users of the products Gary has offered.
