Unhappy Bumper Ding

I backed into a Land Rover and put a ding in my painted bumper. A big hunk of paint chipped off and there are spider cracks around the area. The spot where the paint chipped created a divit. Can I fix this or do I have to get a new bumper?

Unless you have some experience in body repair, it sure sounds like a professional job to me. The paint used on the bumpers is a blend of adhesion, promoter, flex agent and paint and if done wrong will cause the paint to spider all over again.

See the following Thread!
Having spider cracks in the urethane requires a good, flexible surface bond, or it will crack again, worst the next time it is even bumped.

bodyshop could have that fixed right in no time, and if its just the bumper, shouldnt cost a bunch either.

A question about the black bumpers on the '02 models...I bought mine used with a ding in the front bumper. Are there places to get replacement bumpers or an easy way to fix a dent? I'm thinking of replacing both bumpers with something chrome...

I repair metal and plastic bumpers for a living. The body shops send us the bumpers to repair. Look in your phone book for a chrome shop that repairs bumpers and if they don't, they can tell you who does.

The chrome ones are about $700 and are steel - if they were stainless, it'd be worth it.

www.RaceAndStreet.com has bumper covers - I had a front one on my '02 - courtesy of Crewzin...

Almost everything is fixable by a bodyshop pro...but it can cost a lot.

You'll have to ask for an estimate and do your maths. Cover VS body job.

For exemple, you can have this Xenon bumper cover PAINTED for 235$ (I know nothing about shipping cost though).

Or this "OEM look" bumper cover on Ebay UNPAINTED for 40$ + 100$ shipping.

These covers will hide the existing dent (and the Xenon will add some cool style to your ride at the same time).
