Re: Wax remover for black plastic
Hey Guys,
Thank you for your question. Here are two simple solutions to your problem. I use these methods almost on a daily basis, and they work 99% of the time, however depending on what type of wax, and the condition of the surface, their is always that one time that it won't get it all off. Try these methods first, and if the problem becomes stubborn, let me know, and I will pull some more tricks out.
One of the best ways for removing wax residue from plastic is to apply creamy peanut butter directly over the residue. It might sound funny, but this is used in professional detail centers nationwide. The chemical composition found in the Peanut Oil reacts with the Wax residue, pulling it from the plastic. You can use peanut oil directly, but it is a lot easier to use in the peanut butter paste like consistency.
Simply apply a thin layer directly to the surface, let it set for approximately five minutes, and wipe clean.
Another trick for smaller areas is to use a standard red pencil eraser. Just rub the eraser over the wax residue until it is gone. Then follow up with a good water based plastic dressing. I would recommend Meguiar's #40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner - (Professional Line). The reason why I recommend a water based dressing is, some dressings available on the consumer market such as Armor All, are an Oil Based Dressing which is well known for attracting dirt as where Water Based Dressings do not.
Try those, and let me know how it works out for you! As always, if something doesn't work, I usually have several alternatives, so if you ever run into something stubborn, be sure to drop me a line, and I will be more than happy to help out!
Take it easy!
