Default Water spots.

So i went to clean my car today, and when i got done, i noticed about fifty water spots on it that I thought i didn't get. So i took a soapy rag to it, and tried to get them off. When they didn't, i washed it again, and they were still there! im assumiing its calcium from the extremely hard water down here, and maybe i got hit with a sprinkler. What should i do? should i just have it detailed (i was planning on doing this anyway because of the spiderweb scratches in the clearcoat) any advice would be great guys

Do you have a Clay Bar Kit? It's a special bar (feels like sillly putty) and a special liquid spray (I think it's detailing spray) and takes most imperfections off the paint. Just got done doing it to my PT this morning.

Depending how deep the water spots are, the Bar might just be the trick to take them off.

I have the Kit from Mother's Wax. About $15 from Auto Zone.

I guess its worth a shot. Is that a very difficult thing to do, and if I don't do it correctly will I screw it up even more. Lastly, will this interfere with the detailing I want to have done to remove the scratches from the clearcoat. Thanks crewzin!

You really can't screw it up, but actually, if your still going to have the detailing done professionally, I'd just tell them about the spots and they'll be able to take them out for you. Don't buy anything extra if your still going to take it in.

Of course all that depends on how deep the water spots went into the paint. If it was acid rain, and left to sit on the paint for awhile, you might not be able to get rid of them with re-painting.

One more caveat, do not reuse the clay IF you drop it as it will pick up dirt which then will leave scratches in/on your finish. Claying is a easy thing to do and it will let YOU find any and all blemishes in the finish. I'm not sure that a detail shop will clay the car first. Some only wash, wax, polish a vehicle.

So i tried to clay it, and i did, but it didnt do anything to the spots. now im really worried about the cost of getting them off. i guess tomorrow its off to the detail shop. hopefully theyll do a test of the spot to see if they can get it off.

Goo-b-Gone worked for me. Gave it a little muscle and all the spots came right off. Was on all my windows, pillars.....Sunroof, but they all came off with some goo-b-gone!

Distilled White Vinegar will work Use it with with a dilution of water.

If that doesn't work you will need to take an abrasive (IE: polish) to the car to remove them.

Do not let the water spots sit on the car for to long because they will damage the paint (Kind of like bird droppings but not as fast )

Good Luck! BTW, the vinegar probably caught you off guard and you are nervous. I use to be a mobile detailer. I used the vinegar trick on many different exotic cars....you will be fine
