I haven't messed around with paint in a while, but when I got the opportunity to work with a friend of mine on some graphics for my ride, I jumped at the chance! I did the layout for the Flames, and Roger did the inlayed pearl streaks, and all in all, it came out pretty cool! I still have a few more things I want to do to it, but I am pretty happy with it for now!

Anyways, thats about it! Take it easy, and I will catch ya later!

What kind of mural are you planning ? Check out some of my artwork if youd like. Its mostly comic oriented, but occasionally I do other things. Cartoons, cars, etc.

Hey Cyclone,

Cool Artwork! I am not really sure as of yet, but am leaning towards ghosting in some pin up girl art style , like that found on lowriders. I am kind of stuck between that, or skulls in flames swirling around the tailgate handle. Either way, I am pretty sure I will probably have to go through 1000 designes, and way over think the process before I am done!lol

Hopefully I am going to really try to push for killing two birds with one stone, as I really want to split the tailgate in two, but fill in, and completely smooth in the bottom half, and just have the glass portion open. Then fill in a smoothed steel Roll Pan, and a set of frenched vintage VW Tail lights from an old 50's bug. Then do the mural work to finish off the new re-worked rear end! Now all I need is a little more time, and a lot more money!

Take it easy!

I have a question for ya. The black pillars... how do you get the stains / tarnished paint off of there ? Looks like hard water stains or oils from people touching the black paint too much. Im sure you know what I mean. I tried the clay bar, had very little effect.

Hey Cyclone,

Yep, I know what you mean! It seems to be one of those inherent problems with the PT that a lot of us seem to have!

To get rid of the oils, and residue, try a 50/50 mix of water, and rubbing alcohol! Then use a good Polishing Compound like Meguiar's Scratch-X followed by Glaze, and Wax, and they should go away. If you have a Rotary Buffer, I ran over mine with a Lamb wool cutting wheel at 1400 RPM, and it worked great, but if not, it can be done by hand with good results as well! It is just faster, and easier with a buffer, and works a bit better as you can heat the material up as your working on it!

One thing I do recommend doing though is to throw a quick coat of wax, or sealant on them about once a month, as they do seem to deteriorate pretty quickly if you don't stay on top of them!

Take it easy!
