Only when covered in road salt will I go through one with my old pick up.
My PT's don't see a car wash unless is the DIY wash bays and I bring my own bucket but that has been a few years since I have a house now.. I can count on one hand the number of times someone other than myself has washed my PT's and a most of those were by a guy who works for meguiars..

DO NOT take any car through an automatic car wash with brushes unless it's a poo brown bubba special station wagon with monster truck tires on it. I made that mistake and it chipped up my car pretty badly. The touchless ones, yeah I'd say those are fine.

We have Mike's Car Washes here (Mikes Express Car Wash) and I have complete trust in their systems for both my coveted Buick Park Ave and my beloved PT convertible.

TOUCHLESS only for salt removal. Went last week and found out both of my back 1/4 windows leak like a sieve

I don't take it to a car wash. In winter, I will go to a coin-op do-it-yourself booth type - I bring my meguires soap, spnges, bucket, and just use their warmed water. I don't like it, but my hoses are frozen...
