Question silver paint

Whats the best way to make silver paint really shine (Budget $40). the surface is kinda rough and is swirly as hell. the rims appear to be clear coated to match the car along with the bumpers. I'm not really looking for brands but rather techniques. Eventually im gonna get chrome accents and a classic Chrysler lady hood ornament for it so some chrome care tips are appreciated during the winter im gonna get a car cover

First thing to do is pick up a clay bar kit. It will run you somewhere between $15 and $20. That'll strip off a minute layer and get you ready for the next couple of steps.

Then look over this thread for more tips.

which to choose?

I believe Candyman posted the steps on how to clean and protect your PT. Search for the Candyman posts.

Cool Re: silver paint

Hey their PT17,

Just for easy reference, here is the rundown.

You will need a:

1. Clay Bar WHY? To remove all parasitic contaminants from your paint.
Meguiar's Direct Smooth Surface® Clay Kit Cost: $19.99

2. Meguiar's Show Car Glaze WHY? To add oils, and nutrients to your paint.
Meguiar's Direct Show Car Glaze - Cost: $10.22

3. Meguiar's Hi-Tech Yellow Wax WHY? To protect your paint.
Meguiar's Direct Hi-Tech Yellow Wax Liquid - Cost: $12.50

Were over budget by $2.72, but thats as close as I could get it. The only other things you will need are 6 clean Microfiber rags for polishing, and removing chemicals, some dishwashing soap (Has a high PH Ballance to strip any old wax, and related products off your paint), a wash mitt, and a chamois, or towel to dry with. Once you get everything, here is how you get a good shine on your paint:

Glazing:

Waxing:

Finishing up:

Its a bit more complicated than just a quick wax job, but with a bit of work, you should be able to bang it out in a weekend, and if you do all the above in order, I can guarantee you will see a significant improvement in both your gloss, and depth of your paint, and your ride will look great!

I wish you the vest of luck, and if you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line anytime!

Take er easy!

Talking Re: silver paint

Hey lt4supr,

Boy I have sure been their done that! I used to break out the old polisher every time I hit a layover! At least till I started getting lazy, and hitting Little Sisters out in Barstow when rolling back into town! Then, all I did was concentrate on wheels, and tanks!
