Hey their azkruzn,

If its going to the paint shop, they should have you covered on the prep for you. And it is always recommended that you wait at least 30 - 60 days for the paint to cure before you wash it. If you wind up needing to wash it, only use clear cool water and avoid soap to reduce the risk of stains in the fresh paint.

I did a pretty detailed write up walking through the process on my flames from start to finish which might give you a better idea on what is entailed in doing custom graphics on your PT. If you would like to check it out, just click on the link below, and scroll down until you see my orange Cruiser.

help deciding!!!!!!!!

If you have any more questions, are looking for some different ideas, and so on, please feel free to ask me anytime, and I would be more than happy to try to help out any way I can! I have a lot of photos of custom painted Cruisers, or can see if I might be able to sketch up some ideas if you kind of know what you might might be looking for.

Take er easy!

Thanks Candyman,,,wow great looking Cruiser,,,love the flames,,Iam looking into doing "true fire" on mine. I have a silver vert with a black top. I thought of going around the hood about 4-6 inches toward the middle and then going from about the middle of the wheel wells down and the across the rocker panels almost to the rear wheel well.

I like your idea of less is best when doing true fire,,too much and it takes away from the beauty of the cruiser and the paint job. If you have the time and can shoot me a idea of what I am thinking about that would be great and I'd buy you a couple of cold ones at Laughlin in March. I was there last year and just had a great time,, thanks again

Hey their azkruzn,

Sounds like a plan to me, and thank you very much for the positive feedback on my ride! I always very much appreciate it!

I'll tell you what. Here are a few picks of some true fire on PT's that I pulled from my archive, as well as a link to the guy who started the whole true fire trend " Mike Lavallee" of Killer Paint. Maybe take a look at them, and see if you might like a particular layout, or look , or what not, and maybe we can work off of that as a starting point to put something on paper.

Then if you could circle the general areaas to where, and how far back you would like the flames on the hood, and down the rockers, and we should be goo to put something together. If you don't see a layout that works for you, please let me know, and I will try to pull some more.

Link to Killer Paint: His Gallery has a few more pic's of the True Fire to check out if you like.

:::KILLER PAINT::: True Fire, Airbrush, Art, Murals, Hot Rods, Motorcyles, Fine Art, Mike Lavallee, Monster Garage, Overhaulin', Rides, TLC, Discovery, Custom Paint

And here is a blank sketch to mark down where you are thinking of:

That will give us a general direction, and then we should be able to hopefully get her dialed in a bit from their.

Take er easy, and I will catch you later.

Candyman, great pictures and sketches,,,sorry but I'm about as dumb as a box of rocks as far as how to draw circles where I would like them to go... the 2nd pic of the blue PT is close,,, the fire should go all around the hood towards the middle, and the fire going up from the rocker panels,,,hope that helps,,,thanks again for all your help and interest,,,,,
