Sounds like someone shut the hood with the prop up. I think body shop is the way to go.

I totally agree with Hooligan. Is the point on the drivers side? Open the hood, put the hood prop up to hold it and see if the point on the hood matches where the hood prop hooks up.
If you have body work experience, do it yourself depending on how pointed it is. If you want it next to perfect, let a shop do it.

Some "Mechanics" are NOT used to the hood prop being where it is and will SLAM the hood down
. When it still won't go, they lift it and slam it again, that is what equals two "points".![]()

Hey their Everyone,
Yep, the prop hood is a problem and all too common for a little reversed dent. For the most part I would recommend not trying to do this kind of repair yourself as you run a very high risk of cracking the paint in the process which could easily cause a flaking problem leading to a real mess. Instead my best advice would be to look for a PDR (Paintless Dent Repair ) Service around your area. They are usually a mobile service that comes to your home or place of business and uses specialized body hammers, mirrors, and so on to gently massage out small dings without having to damage the paint. Just like some of my other posts where I talk about Mobile Air Brush Services to fix small scratches, PDR Services usually will charge by the car meaning if you have any other imperfections, you can get them all removed for a small rate, and the Service usually takes no more than an hour or two from start to finish. The cost for this type of Service should run between $100 - $150 for the entire car depending on how much work is involved which is a little on the expensive side but way cheaper than taking it in to a Body Shop where they can run $500+ for this type of repair. That is my two cents in it anyways. Go easy, and I will catch you later. Candyman

Thank you so much everyone! I went outside to line up where the hood proop is with my little pointy friend, and sure enough, that's exactly what it is!
I will check my aread for PDR as suggested by Candyman, and then call around to regular body shops if necessary.

![]() A friend of mine said it was from closing the hood and showed me 2 dimples on the front of his truck... Not a huge deal at the moment... you can't see it looking straight on at the car, you can only see it when your eyes are even with the hood looking across it. No paint is chipped or anything, just a small dimple... Dent Doctor can take care of it I'm sure.
