Hey their William_F,
Yep, that 50/50 mix of the Isobutyle (Rubbing Alcohol) and distilled water is the same basic components used in the production of Quick Detailer, only without that nice fragrant scent that most manufacturers introduce to the mix to psychologically make you feel a nice pleasant cleaning sensation when using their Products. Overall their i no difference except the cost. So my best advice is, if you are not into all the overpriced nice smelling stuff, then I would go for the 50/50 mix for sure! As you plointed out, it is way cheaper, and does the same effective job. ![]() That is my 2 cents for what its worth anyways. Just a lot more bang for the buck! Thank you for your question, and i will catch ya later on. Candyman

Thanks Don!
I'm fine with just a nice shiny PT. I don't need the fruity smell. That being said, I did go get a bottle of detailer on my lunch today before seeing your response becasue those nasty water spots I told you about were making me nuts! Of course, you also know what happened with my wax job, so the spots are gone, but accoridng to the label on the detailer, it's time to rewax the Cruiser LOL. I have been reading all I can at Maguiar's and I think I have brain overload! I've learned a lot, but now I'm trying to recall it all and make sure I go through the steps in the right order. It's going to keep the Cruiser looking sweet, but the wife says she doesn't mind me papmering my car, but whatever I do to it has to be done to her truck too. Hopefully that won't apply when we get to mods. I don't think a CRV should have rear suicide doors LOL. Thanks again, Don!!! |

Somebody correct me, but quite sure the rubbing alcohol will remove any wax - I use it if I'm putting on a decal, etc...

Hey their QSD,
Nope. First it is diluted 50% from full strength, and the Isobutyle is a good way to remove any excess wax, and chemical residue which in return makes the surface less slick so things can stick to the surface easier, but the mixture will not remove applied waxes, and silicons from the surface so its safe to use without any worry of wiping away any protective qualities. Of course, any time you do anything to the paint surface, and have any questions, or doubts, you can always go ahead and apply a quick coat of your favorite wax over the effected area just to feel more at ease. ![]() Go easy, Candyman
