I have been doing many paint sealants on new vehicles lately. I always like to talk with owners about what they like and dislike with their car. I was never a big Saturn fan before, but I was talking to a guy recently that was tickled with his. What I'm really impressed with is the construction of the outside body panels. Have you ever noticed saturns don't have any molding around the body? That's because the material used on the body is dent resistant. They use a similar product also used in making bullet proof vests. I don't understand why other companies don't start doing the same. Doors dings are frustrating, you won't ever see a Saturn with a ding. Kind of makes one think. Gary

Only down side is I've seen a few that have been hit in the cold and rather than a bent steel door you have a door that looks great except for the big hole in it.
So far so good (knock on wood) 2 years and no door dents.

My wifes '93 Saturn SL2 still looks brand new, we don't do a great deal of maintenance on the paint job, it just shines on its own.
The material will break or crack if hit in the cold, only draw back. Bonus is it is very light, much lighter than sheet metal.

Chevy's Lumina van that they had was made of the same material and then they came out with the Venture and it is made of steel. There must have been some reason for them not to stay with it. Perhaps it was an economy thing. I remember when the Saturns first came out, they had one at our local mall and they invited anyone to kick or bang the side of it to demonstrate how tough it was.

Gary, short story about a Saturn. We had a 99 SC2 when I lived back in Maryland. I was at a bank parked parallel to the parked cars in the proper spaces waiting for the wife. Some guy in a BIG black SUV in one of the parked spaces starts backing out and because it's SO big can't even see my Saturn. He was going slow but before I had a chance to move he backed into the Saturn and actually lifted it off the ground. His bumper was about 3 feet off the ground and hit the drivers door inches from me. I laid on the horn and he stopped and pulled forward. We got out to look at the damage...and there was NONE. The door of the Saturn just popped back out when he pulled forward.

I had a '67, 427 Vette that was backed into on the driver's side door... no dent, just a big crack!
