Sun Roof Trim

Steve R wanted me to post this problem he has, maybe others can share as well. The trim around the sun roof > problem, discolored, faded.
As always my first thought with any condition problem on a newer car is to go to the dealer and see if they will fix/repair under warrenty. I looked at my sun roof trim and it looks fine, but after inspecting the material it appears to be pourus rubber. If you cannot bring life back to it by simply cleaning it (sometimes wax residue gets on rubber and fades and discolors it) and using some dressing. try forever black. I would first clean it well with a soft nylon brush and all purpose cleaner. the brsuh will get inside the rubber and clean more effectively than a rag. then dress it. If problem still occurs, use forver black. mask off aread first. it is designed to dye the rubber black, it gets into the pours of the material. I have used it on faded bumpers, it works ok, only use it as a last resort. Gary
