Default Gary's gonna kill me

Gary,
I have a huge show this weekend on Saturday. I need some quick tips on what to do to prep it before the show. I dont know if you remember what all I just recieved from you but hope you can help.

I have availiable.
1 detail mit
6 mirco fiber towels approx.
2 waffle weave towels
1 paint sealant
2 ultimate paint cleaners
2 dressings
2 spary and shines
1 Meguires wet or dry wax.
I have some small scratched which I have mentioned before and some swirls. Im realitively new to the detail scene being this is the first car I have ever tried to take care of from the start.

First I want to know how to fix the small scratches with the paint cleaner, and the swirls if I can alone. Then I want to know if I can use some of these products to make it a little more shiny than before.

Can you help me. [xx(]

Not that I have neglicteded cleaning my cruiser it just that theres so much dust here that you need to clean your car again once you get home from cleaning it the first time.

King, read my thread here titled "removing swirls" I would wash and clay bar the car if that was never done, my web site has clay bar application tips. Then I would use the paint cleaner, for more aggressive action, the meguiars cleaner has stronger cleaners in it. Mine has less, but also has polish in it as well. The results will be limited with any cleaners on tough blemishes and scratches. The only way to really do a job is to machine buff. If you can drop by Chicago I will give you a FREE buff job. Gary

OK, who's going to organize the PT cruise to Chicago for a free buff at Gary's?

Gary,
Also, how do you suggest I clean my PT. If I don't have a clay bar? Should I follow the steps replacing the clay with the paint cleaner? Because that is what I had in mind. But without using a sealer until I get the clay.

Thanks

Colby, I sent you a message about clay, Hooligan is correct, clay should be at most any pep boys, auto zone or other auto supply store. If you can't find it, all is not lost. First wash your car with simple car wash soap and water. I assume you have taken pretty good care of her so far, correct? dry with the waffle weave towel, (post here what you think of that towel so others can get excited) Take a foam or terri app pad, put about a quarter size of my cleaner on the pad, squeeze it and start rubbing it into the paint, don't be afraid to press a little, that back and forth motion is what will "deep clean" the paint. Make sure you have product on the pad when rubbing the surface. work one section at time, after you wipe it in, remove with MF towel, the small ones. do entire car like this, one section at a time. The cleaner has polish in it as well. The surface should come back to life after that. Proceed to use a new pad, and apply the sealant. same way, only allow the sealant to sit on finish for about 10 minutes or so. By the time you apply it on the whole car, you should be ready to go back and remove with a new MF towel. Make sure you don't use the same one as the cleaner. Wait til you see how easy the sealer comes off, and how slick it looks, let me know your results, we all want to hear. Gary p.s. at the show, bring the spray and wipe, use it to refresh the shine at the show. Good Luck. Gary

Gary,
Still have some questions left.
Where should I do this? I usually wash my car at a drive in and use sponge and a bucket, I like the high pressure spray head they have there.

Should I take it home to do the paint cleaner and the sealer in my garage or do it outside in the nature light under roof? Im afarid about particals in the air getting on it from wind.

I should be able to find those app pad or terri pads at the car shop too right? If not cant I use a micro fiber to apply or a terri cloth towel?

And yes I have tried to take good care of the car so far. Stupidity in not knowing what to use to clean it is where I have have swirls in the paint. I not have the knowledge and know how to use something different.

I have used the micro fiber detail towels (the small ones) before. Yes they do I wonderful job. There are no other towels I have ever used to detail before these that make such a huge difference. They hold more water then others and dont leave streaks or water spots like my others would. They are amazingly soft. I actually wont used these on my (bad places) the wheels and some exterior places so as I dont damage the towels them selves. After Im done the car looks like it was never wet but just clean.

Gary,
If I can find a clay bar at a local shop.
In your section "Detail Tips" under "Clay Bar" you mention a "Detail Spray". What type of detail spray should I use? Can I use the paint cleaner or should I use something else.

Never mined I just read how the "Spray and Shine" can be used in this manner as a lubricant along with the clay.

KingKole

I believe Walmart has a "kit" by Mothers. Its in a red box and has the clay bar and detailer spray. Price? Maybe $12.00

Keep the clay wet. Use just part of the clay bar. Drop it, toss it.
