Teflon
*This was copied from another section, thought it should be here. Since I teach auto detailing, and focus on consumer education in car care, here are my comments. Car dealers are having a hard time making money on the price of the cars. People are more posted now on invoice prices, so dealers are taking advantage of the lack of education amoung their customers in other areas. Paint sealant is better protection, but not at the prices they charge ($500-$900) The teflon gimmick is a trick. Dupont Co, the maker of teflon has publicly stated that in order for teflon to be effective it needs to be applied at 900*, so unless your dealer is applying it with a flame thrower it is useless. True quality paint sealants consist of amino-fuctional resins that form a stronger chemical bond on your finish. Now days, the chassis is already coming from the factory with rust proof coating under the car, unlike years ago, so that is also another profit center for the dealer. Being uneducated cost consumers millions of dollars each year. This is one reason why my detailing clinics are so popular. I can show you how to put on a professional paint sealant and save you BIG BUCKS. Let me know if I can help further. Gary
