Default Clay bar test

Here is a quick test to see if your car needs to be clay barred. After you wash and dry your car, get a plastic sandwich bag, put your hand in it and gently glide your had across the finish (start on the lower section which is most exposed to foreign road particles.) if you feel any resistance what so ever, you need to clay. test again after you clay and the bag will glide like silk over glass. And with the clay bar, that's how I tell when I'm done - if the wet clay bar slides without resistance, I'm done. [?]

You'll get that silky smooth feeling you should have. Plus you should notice the clay will have darkened the water and the clay it self with different colors.

Now how long are you to wait to clay again?

King, I forgot to tell you (my bad) it is ok to dunk the clay in the soapy bucket of water to lubricate, but DO NOT LEAVE IT IN THERE! as you found out, it breaks down the clay. Sorry, my fault. Gary

Oh no, when I clayed it a dunked it in the soapy water and then sprayed some of the spary and shine on to also lubricate and then worked my way around the car. At the end the water was all murky and the clay had colors like yellow and orange and alot of black dirty looking color to it at the end. No longer was it the bright blue like it was before.

I didn't know my pinstripes were light gray, I always thought they were dark gray.

Gary, I clay bar everything! I've found even most new cars have some grit or transport dirt or overspray on them and they all benifit from a good claybar. I did my ne PT as soon as I got it. It looks like glass now and it was good before.
Thanks for all the good info.

When it gets like that, you can press it flat, bake it at 450 deg for two hours, and make a coaster out of it.[)]
