Default Removing adhesives...

New hood came back from paint with *cringe* duct tape holding the washer hose in place on the underside of the hood. (No mounting clips for it on the new hood.) Removed it as soon as I could but it still left a good amount of adhesive on the finish. Any special tips for getting this stuff off. I'm a bit skittish with it being fresh paint.

At least they didn't put it on top right? using the "less is best" approach, try using a soft net sponge pad with a little all purposr cleaner, dilute it a little more then you normally would. They make adhesive remover also, similar to Goof Off. What kind of hood did you get? Gary

Aye, I'd have had kittens if it had been stuck to the top side. Thanks a ton, this is the first paint job I've actually cared enough about to be concerned with keeping it looking sharp.

It's the Keystone Single-Port. Love it, love it, love it.

I have had great success at removing adhesives--from glass, painted and/or plastic surfaces, engine metal, etc. without damage/problems) using a product like "Goo Gone" (citrus cleaner) called RIGHT STUFF (http://www.cli-rightstuff.com/1400.htm). Recently, I found it on sale at Lowe's for only $1.03/quart sprayer bottle (regular price is $3.96).

Whatever product you decide upon maybe you should try it out on your wife's car first so you feel comfortable about using it on your PT??? Good luck.

LOL. Sadly I can't, she doesn't know how to drive so we're a one car family atm. Though my Father-In-Law's Beetle is parked in front of my garage.... *slinks away*

I've had luck using polish - rub it on and it breaks the adhesion - the goo comes off immersed in polish. The rag you use is one-time only...

I have used (and this wil lsound funny) vegetable oil to remove adhesives in the past. No harm to the paint and it's pretty dang cheap for all that you will EVER need.

Vegetable oil worked well for my dealer decal that didn't want to stay on, I ment it had to come off, that decal stinks.

Vegatable oil works well for remove any type of sticky junk. It has work for me for a long time.
