Just to add to the information...,

You do not want to apply pressure when claying. Allow the clay to "pick out" the debris. The harder you press, the more likely the chance of adding swirls or scratches by the debris it picks up.

Rub in "back & forth" motions, not "Karate Kid" fashion.

Frequently check the clay for contaminants.
When you see the debris it is picking up, fold, kneed, turn, as needed.

Another "money saving tip"

You can mix your own clay lube using a good, high lube car wash.
About 1/4 - 1/2oz to 12 - 28 oz of distilled water(do not use tap water, as it has minersls that can spot. You can get a gallon of distilled water from the grocery store or Wal-Mart for .50 - .99).

Mix in the bottle, add your favorite type of sprayer and you have a VERY cost effecient clay lube.

I like my own mix best, as most QD's have alcohol which makes it evaporate faster. With your own mix, there is no alcohol, so you can "work" it longer..., meaning less work and using less product.

Just to add to the above posts, there are very few clay bar manufacturers, maybe 2-3, with Clay Magic holding most of the patents. The only claybar I cannot recommend is Meguiars, it's too soft and sticks to your paint no matter how much lube you use, making removal of the clay residue a pain. Mothers and Clay Magic are the most commonly available claybars locally and they are excellent. Some Autozones carry the larger 200oz Clay Magic bars and 3M's claybar (shipping is included in the price and comes in a nice plastic jar) can be ordered direct from 3M. The larger claybars can be cut into smaller pieces or even "one use" slices (throw away a slice after doing a section of your car, lessening the chances of a possible contaminant scratching your paint after kneading the clay).

Man, I agree with Sci-Fi one Meguires clay. It sucks and its in the garbage the day I bought it. Bought the Mothers kit and like it alot. As far as Meguires clay I was surprised because their other products aren't that bad.

Thanks for the info on the clay bar, finally was able to wash car and use the clay bar and no more rail rust. Again if you package the bars 3 or 4 in a package please contact me.[^]
