I recently bought a 'new' 03GT that sat on the lot several months. In direct sunlight the paint looks glossy and smooth with no sign of scratches. In the garage under flurosent light the paint looks terrible; scratches everywhere. If I run my hand over the paint it feels smooth. Is this an optical effect of the clear coat under artifical light? Any products available to polish out the scratches? I have a weeks forced vacation, so time is not an issue..Thanks

I recommend Einszett polishes, VERY easy to use and has by far the best results out of the 100's of products I have tested to come to that conclusion.
Clear coat is only a paint with no pigment and will scratch, oxidize, etc..., contrary to "the word on the street"

Hi BLH1, that kind off suprises me, because usually it is the other way around. I find the direct sunlight most unforgiving. In any event, if it is a new car, always try your luck on getting the dealer to handle it. Most people don't trust the dealer, so that may a concern as well. The scratches you see in the light may be a result of the car NOT being prepped properly before waxing or sealing. I get cars all the time like that. The dealer will use a quick one step to save time, and when I properly wash/clay/wash/deep clean/polish and seal, it looks like a different vehicle. Contact me through my web site and we can talk it over to get it right for you. I have walked through via phone call with many Cruiser owners that way. I can't type as well as I can talk, Gary

Under direct sunlight (high noon), the paint looks perfect. Surface is smooth and glossy,no scratches are felt. Under a shop light(s) in my garage, the paint is a disaster area:scratches everywhere. The scratches almost look like they are under the clearcoat. I have been using scratchx and turtlewax scratch remover on small areas with limited success(removes small scratches only)
