My GT is Electric Blue and it water spots badly. I use Zaino products, Z2 and Z5. Any way to reduce or stop this? BLH

Zaino is a great product and is the most durable sealant on the market.
One of the characteristics of Zaino(as well as other protectants)is beading. As with any product that beads water..., you have to keep it washed(especially during this time of year) Beware of products that start off beading and a day, a week or a month start sheeting..., the sheeting is because the protection is no longer there. There is no "magic" when it comes to chemicals..., if it starts off beading, it will continue to bead until the protection is gone(there is no "microchip" in the bottle of polish that tells the protectant..., "Hey, it has been 2 weeks- start sheeting now", LOL!! Of all the products I use, Zaino is one on my list, Along with Klasse, Einszett, Collinite, just to name a few of the high end products ![]()

I do know that a wet clar bar will remove even the most stubborn spots.

Their has been much discussion about this topic (sheeting vs beading) I have found good and bad in both. But the edge in my opinion is in sheeting. The reason more professional companines are going with sheeting action as opposed to Beating is for that reason. Water spots can be a bitch if not removed right away. BLH1, I sympathize with you if you still are using Z. As you already know from using it, the method of application is difficult in itself. (z-1 z-2 z-3 z-4 z-5 z-6???) I can see how people have problems. Chances are its time to try something else. quicksilver is correct, the clay should take care of it. if not, let me know and we will try something else. Gary

Zaino is one of the easiest products to use..., "IF" used correctly.
I can see where you would run into trouble if using a combination of (z-1 z-2 z-3 z-4 z-5 z-6) as stated above.

Sometimes after washing and drying (especially if going to a show!), I use Zaino's Gloss Enhancer (Z-6). It took care of the water spots and seems to make the wax job last better.

Off hand, I would suggest using a claybar 1st, then if that doesn't work: try a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water (have to let it sit a bit to dissolve the water deposits, can even go 100% vinegar for tougher deposits...good for cleaning your windows too), and finally a good paint cleanser. Then, in your case, apply Zaino to your car (Z-2 or Z-5) afterwards. If you suspect your water supply, go buy a whole house water filter (wall mount) and hook it up to the faucet you use to wash your car. You may have to buy a few adapters so you can screw-in your water hose. There are several different filter cartridge types available that you can buy to remove deposits and/or clorine from the water. See the picture of one unit below: ![]() May want to carry a bottle of QD (in your case Z-6) in your PT to immediately deal with any water spotting and/or bird bombs. Z-6 can be diluted up to a 50/50 mix (use distilled water) so you can make your Z-6 supply last longer. Also use Z-6 just after you polish your PT.

Location: PacNW Condition: washing Situation: failure to dry surface after washing Result: spots. Other 3 vehicles do not water spot. Cause: Mopar paint or the 12 coats of Z2 and Z5 I applied to the surface?

So it occurs after washing? 2 suggestions (aside from SCi-Fi's cure).
1) Don't wash in sun - pick dawn/dusk or shade. 2) Use a leaf blower for a rapid, easy dry - really works. The other cars that don't spot - are they polished so water beads? Are they lighter colors so you don't see the spots?[:I] |

I will try the leaf blower idea. The other cars are: silver, cypress green and dark red. The cypress green is a dark blue green. I did wash the PT in the sun at about 2pm approx 65 degrees.
