Default Hats off to Turbomangt

You must really like what you do. This weekend I clay barred Pt and wifes Crown Vic. Used Mothers 3 step method ( would have bought your stuff Gary but some things came with the clay bar kit and I just added to it). It was a labor of love, what a difference and the reward is almost immediate. So are the joints stiffening. I hope when you do the lower half of the cars they're on a lift. Man I feel like one big cramp. When I was younger and had my 73 ragtop vette I did this every weekend, with a toothbrush. WOW I'm glad this is supposed to last for 6 mths. Question what product do you sell for wire wheel covers to rid them of that built up brake dust and what is an easy way to clean them? If you sell anything I'm a buyer![B)]

Hi Gonzo, when I decided to sell professional detailing supplies to the public, I had to make sure I picked ones that were safe, easy to use, and effective. The problem with wheels and brake dust is this. I use products that are effective for wheels, but if care is not used, diaster can easily result. Professional wheel cleaners are powerful and can do real damage not only to the wheels but to the people using them. They come in acid and non-acid type. I non-acid cleaner can be just as dangerous as an acid. High Alkaline content is also caustic. If the user doesn't wear rubber gloves, wear protective eye wear and such, any acid and alkaline cleaner will cause serious harm to skin, and blindness if a drop gets in your eyes. So you can see I don't want to be responsable for that kind of liability with dangerous products. The only safe solution for brake dust that won't worry me about you using would be a general all purpose cleaner with a nylon detail brush. then follow up with a wax or sealer. Regular maintainence is always the best way to ensure the best results. Some time I will post what the PH scale is all about and how different cleaners work on wheels and paint.

Turbomangt,
Thanks for your reply the wire wheel covers are on the wifes car and the condition kind of got away from me. Didn't look between the spokes just on the outside where they are shiney when you clean them. Again your Lambo project looked awesome.

Gonzo, try putting them in the dishwasher with regular detergent. Set the dry cycle on cold or low.

How does a man clean his wheel covers? He doesn't,there clean when she puts them back on!!!

LOL
