Default @$!$@% cats or Gary Please Help!

[xx(]I hate freakin out door cats. went out to work this morning to find one on my hood!!!!!! the little sob left four or five white scratches - they look like white hairs - right on top of my hood (i have a dark plum clearcoat on my 4 MONTH OLD 2004 - so they stick out like a sore thumb). grrrrrrrrrrr. they feel smooth to the touch - like they are part of the clearcoat. what can i do to fix this? is there anything i can do? (aside from go hunting tonight - anyone feel like chinese?)[xx(]

It would depend on how deep the scratches are. If shallow, it can be probably be buffed out with a rotary. If it's too deep then filling, wet sanding, and polishing would be the option. Take it to your local detailing professional or body shop and get their opinion. Might want to consider buying a good thick car cover. I use one daily since I have squirrels and cats running around or being chased by my dog in the yard. Only takes a minute or two to take it off or put it on. A small price to pay over having to repair or buffing your paint.

Legion, Sci Fi posted some great info, and if it is beyond what you are able to do, take it to a detail shop. If you put on wax, that do only cover up the marks till it rains or you wash it again, then they will re appear. Try a mild abrasive like a paint cleaner, follow with some polish , then wax.

Any luck yet with removing the cat scratches? I've got a few myself on the hood and fenders. Bob

If your Cruiser is left outside then Sci-Fi answered your problem. Get a good quality cover. Not much more you could do other then building a garage.
