Default Brake Dust and Tar

Here is a pic of an alloy wheel that was contaminated with brake dust and tar. See the top half of the wheel (the before) and the lower half? (After). I used a new product that literally melted the tar and brake dust from the wheels. It is a solvent based solution of Limonene and surfactants (emulsifiers)The nice part is it is non-petroleum base, and not caustic. If anyone has problems with tar or brake dust I will get you some at my cost on a "need basis only" This product is concentrated and needs to be mixed with water to activate it. Ratio of 4/1 part water. Gary p.s. since this is meant for professional use only, if you need some I will have to cover some things with you before you order.

Hey Gary, I'd love to try this on my wife's '92 Camaro. I've managed to get what's left of the paint (OK, it isn't THAT bad, but lots of chips, etc and the rear bumper is horribly faded) to shine pretty well, but the wheels could really use some help. I've tried all sorts of autoparts store junk, scrubbed with a toothbrush, etc.

Gary,

Just to let you know, limonene IS a hydrocarbon. It just so happens that it is also the main ingredient in the orange or "citrus"-based cleaners (it's found in the skin oils of citrus fruits).

Keep it off asphalt driveways. It will dissolve the sealer or asphalt itself. Just rinse the driveway well after you are done if you have to apply it there.

My two cents,

Scott
