Default Dash Inserts

My dash has the blue painted inserts. While cleaning it my fiancee was trying to be nice and Armor-Alled them. Now, theyre streaky. This brings a question. Is it safe to carefully wax those inserts? if so what kind of wax, if not what is best for cleaning them and keeping them shiny and protected?

If you're referring to the pieces that are over the instrument cluster and the passenger airbag, then yes, I would wax them. I have a 03' and a 01' and have been waxing them both as long as I've owned them. (1 year and 3 years respectively). Neither of them are cracking, warping, or streaking from the waxing. In my opinion, I think that the wax is protecting them. I use Meguiar's Gold Class wax. Easy on, easy off, and they look great.

Don't ever use dressing on any component that is painted. Dressing is for rubber, NON-painted plastic, vinyl and on occassion leather. If you dress painted parts you will get a mess (like you found out) p.s. My paint sealant or my chrome sealant will really do a number on those covers.
