Default 3 Big paint chips & black mirror plastic brown?

OK, while driving ItsMe down our rode that was just freshly seal coated and "ROCKED" some idiot came barreling down the road with a trailer full of canoes and rocked ItsMe and my hubbys new pickup. ItsMe received 3 big rock chips, 1 on each fender and 1 on the hood ,of course in the new flames areas, And a window chip.

So is there anything out there that I can fix these chips with?[:I]

And then I look at my side mirrors and see the black plastic is turning brown! I took it to a car wash last week and had it cleaned and detailed. Any help on getting them back to black? [xx(]

Anyone ever try this product? http://www.ptcruiserclubstore.com/cg...ip_repair.html

There just so happens to be a product called "back to black". Mothers makes it. Meguiars and Turtle Wax make similar products. They all do about the same thing, they restore vinyl, plastic, and rubber back to their original condition. Take a look at your nearest pep boys or auto zone.

A word of caution on the back to black. Too many times I see people go to the last or extreme fix method before attempting to go the "less is best " method. Remember this, Back to Black or Forever black is designed for porous material like rubber NOT molded plastic. The product has dye in it, and if you apply it to plastic the product cannot soak in. what will happen is the dye will sit on the plastic, and make them look worse then before. Try cleaning them with soap/ all purpose cleaner then treat with a water based dressing. For your paint chip touch up, look on my web site or Links home page for my paint chip repair made simple. Since the mirrors are molded in black and not painted black, I would suggest you try a little plastic polish. That might help restore the color.

Then, protect it with a good UV protectant dressing, which I think Gary's is, and it should stand up to sunlight a little better and resist fading.

Thanks for the link. I tried yesterday for over an hour to find your chip repair link but couldn't find it[:I] Just went and read it and will try it out. I did a quick fix for now ...NO LAUGHING...with a felt tip pen. Came out just a shade darker but is still alot less noticeable than the white/metal showing. I am going to see if a chip repair guy can do it with a nice finish if not I'll do it your way since the paint guy gave me a pint of electric blue paint (already thinned) to fix chips with. He just couldn't make himself do it since he says it always looks bad to him But whats a person to do, they got to be fixed somehow[xx(]

I tried cleaning the spots on the mirrors plastic that had turned brown (the car is two months old) and it was still brown. I took a real close look and it looks like the black has been replaced with a permanent brown spot. So I tried the back to black and it stayed brown, so I took lift off and cleaned the back to black off and then took a black marker and covered the brown spots and once again wiped it off with lift off to dull the felt tip marker and then re-applied back to black to get a shine back on the spots. So can you tell me what "a water based dressing" is so that I can use that to keep them looking good and not the back to black stuff. Thanks.

Good point on the warrenty issue. I would try that route first. Not sure what other companies are doing but my dressing has no solvents in it whioch over time will destroy rubber, plastc. It also has UV protection. Leaves a satin finish on all rubber, molded plastic, (don't use it a painted finishes) leather, vinyl. Gary
