Default Defective Chrome wheels

I detailed a Black Turbo Cruiser today (pics to come) and I noticed one of the factory Chrome wheels had a bubble starting to form. PLus I saw some pitting develope. I told the owner who is in our club, and she is going to the dealer. It only has 13,000 mile!!!! I would suggest looking at your wheels for same, also DON'T EVER WASH YOUR WHEELS WHEN NOT, let the brakes and wheels cool down. Also remember to wax/seal the wheels on a regular basis. I would not drive chrome in a Chicago winter either. Gary

I have chrome wheels with 18k and no problem, but I a wash them about every other day even when I don't wash the car. I never let any brake dust gather and I wax them every couple of weeks

Here's a picture of what is/was on mine. After 3 all day stays at the sucko dealership they finally replaced. It should not have been so hard. Maybe donuts would have help.

The same thing was also on both of my left hand door handles and the rear Chrysler wing. They were also replaced. Bad thing is one of rims is now showing the same thing. It appears as if the rust is in the chrome. It feels very smooth, not as if it is pitting, like it is underneath.

I believe DC chrome wheels have a "history" of this problem. Living in an area where salt is used on the roads during the winter doesn't help. Regular cleaning and using chrome polish/sealer seems to be the only solution to the problem.

Bigdogdad are those wheels "chromed aluminum" or "aluminum clad" wheels?I've heard their having a hard time with the clad wheels they are peeling and blistering.[8D]

It is my understanding that DC is going more and more to "chrome clad" wheels because they are less likely to have problems than chrome-plated ones. [:I]

I just waxed and sealed my wheels yesterday.I got tired of the brake dust,so went to NAPA and pick up a pair of Creamic brake pads and put them on. While I had the wheels off I cleaned and sealed
both sides.
