"Paint marks" on rear bumper

I have an 02' cranberry cruiser with the black bumpers. A while back, I started to notice what appeared to be marks left by previously applied tape on the top of the rear bumper where it meets the painted body trim. Is anyone familiar with this condition in reference to how this occurs, and ultimately, how to remove these marks?

I have the same problem, but with the car being an 01, it wont be under warranty anymore. I just want a new color-coded bumper.

Check with your dealer to see IF they will repaint. This was caused by the type of tape used during shipping[xx(]. Some people have had them replaced.

search this forum for tape marks on bumpers (or any other PT forum for that matter, lots of threads on this topic everywhere!). then you will see all the misery that this problem has caused many owners (myself included). i had mine replaced and painted without any hassle, but i am one of the lucky ones. was told by dealer that this was caused at the factory during the painting process, and that is why if you get the bumpers replaced with the same style gray ones, the tape marks will eventually reappear. so paint them, cover them, or replace them. really the only solutions. rumor is a TSB will be announced to fix? cross your fingers. good luck!
