What non staining wax should i use on my new 2004 PT graphite limited edition platinum series. Is it alright to wax it, or will it cause problems with the finish?

Graphite is a great color to make really "pop".
I would suggest you read this article on How to Wax Then try some Pinnacle Wax I personally like a sealant first then add a "Wax" on top for that "wet shine, deep mirror look" I personally use Klasse Yes I have some money tied up in my "obsession" But I like to call it a hobby. My Wife calls it something else [xx(]

Well, since I have the exact same car I feel I can heartily recommend the full product line from www.perfectautofinish.com - that would be Gary, AKA turbomangt on this forum. I clay barred my car and, after trying another brand (which was crazy expensive) I gave Gary's line a shot. I'm hooked. Great price, super easy to use, and the finish is just awesome.

I have a steel blue PT, which is fairly close. I use nothing but Meguiar's Gold Class products. The wax is easy to put on, their detail sprays work real well, and the endurance tire shine lasts for weeks, not just a day or two. A lot of people will tell you that Gary's products are superior to any other, but give a couple different brands a try and see what you like best.

Here is my opinion on wax. Paint technology has evolved so much over the last say 5-6 years, why would you still use a product that was introduced 70 years ago. Wax is a natural product coming from trees, synthetic is man made using chemicals similar to that which paint comes from. In the guruwax report which test all kinds of finishes, the synthetic's won hands down in terms of durability, shine, and overall performance. It is my choice on ALL vehicles. Someone mentioned Pinnacle, a good product, but form what I remember its like $30 a can. Klasse, also a great product, priced around $20. Klasse AIO is a good pre-step, but the final glaze is difficult to work with. If you are happy with what you are using, great. I just want to offer people other choices that are professional grade so they can see the difference themselves. [^]

Have used Gary's products since first purchasing my PT in October and have been pleased with the ease of use and the appearance that they provide. Have not used anything else on the car so cannot compare how it would look otherwise.
Bottom line...I have spoiled myself by using Gary's products. Also do not forget the waffle weave micro-fiber towels! Buy more than one! |

OK, here's my two cents worth. I'm a retired Boeing guy who now owns a detail business, Smile & Shine Auto Detailing, in the great northwest. I too have tried Gary's products and like them and the price. But here's what I do for all of the cars I detail. I first start with a complete clay bar (after washing). Then I add a coat of Zaino Z-1 Show Car Polish Lok followed by a coat of Z-5 Show Car Polish for Swirl Marks and Fine Scratches. After polishing I add a coat of the new Meguiars NXT Tech wax. The shine is unbelieveable and the best I've ever seen. What the Zanio's Z5 is great for is removing the fine scratches and swirl marks that espically happen to red and black cars. Of course this is a heck of a lot of hard work and for most of your applications Gary's sealant works very well. Oh and by the way, since I'm retired and do this for fun and some extra folding cash, I do a complete detail for $100 (interior and exterior) including tax.
