Hi,
I waxed my car with Gary's polymer sealant, but something strange keeps happening... I know I am buffing all of it, since it hazes and I don't leave any haze showing, but within a few days, streaks form that are much like hazed, unbuffed wax. Did I use too much sealant? The streaks don't all form at once, they take several days, and sometimes weeks before they form. What did I do wrong? |

Joe, something is going on in the prep stage. The sealant is nearly fool proof to use. The thinner the application is better than a heavy one. Did you use the cleaner before the sealant? One reason I sell a cleaner is ensure people get the best possible result. If the prep work is not done correctly, the result will be less than expected. pm message me and we can talk and see what you did wrong. Gary

I dont want to sound like Im picking on Joe but I need to make a point. This is the exact reason that professional chemical companies dont sell to the public, because most people dont know how to apply the products. I made sure when I introduced my line that everything met high standards in addition to being easy to use. Since I cant supervise what everyone is doing, all I can do is try to educate. In this post Joe refers to the sealant but in his private message he talks about the Poly-Seal. These are two completely different products, each having specific applications.
The sealant (in the yellow bottle) is the last step in the detailing process. I advise using the paint cleaner first to get rid of old wax, along with prepping the car for the final phase. The sealant needs to sit on the finish for around 20 minutes. Then it is easily removed. The Poly-Seal needs to be shaken well. It is a two part solution and its essential that it is mixed prior to use. After that, all you do is spray it on and remove right away. DO NOT let the poly seal sit like you do for the finishing sealant. Joe, if you send me your phone number Id be glad to walk you through the steps. I have taken time for many Cruiser owners, so dont feel isolated. Also, dont take offense; I have had only great feedback, and I know as more people are using my products, there is more of a chance someone will goof up. No big deal--in the end you will be satisfied. Gary

Sob sob sob! Ok, enough of that. Gary, you hit the nail on the head with what I did. I apparently didn't let the sealant stay on long enough, and left the poly-seal on too long. When I did it, I covered the whole car in sealant and then proceeded to take it off. Probably it did NOT take 20 minutes to do this. When I poly-sealed the car, I did a similar thing, did the whole car and then took it off. I guess maybe this weekend I'll need to go back and do it right (if I can get the time). Thanks!

Joe, if you follow Gary's instructions to the letter you will end up with a truly amazing shine on your car. I use his sealant (yellow stuff in the small bottle) and poly-seal (spray bottle) on my PT and the finish is just awesome. What really impressed me though, was when I clay barred, paint cleaned, sealed my wife's 12 year old Camaro RS - holey moley does that car look good now!!

Joe, fear not, you know I wasn't picking on you. Sometimes its my fault for assuming people know how to use everything I sell. I knew it was time to post instructions because I was getting many questions that made perfect sense. Gary

Ok, now for the final question....how do I correct this problem?
Should I strip off the sealant with a Dawn wash? Or just apply another coat of sealant, but properly this time?

Joe, you don't need to get that aggresive. Just use regular car wash soap, dry and apply some of the deep cleaner/polish before using the sealant (yellow bottle) The cleaner will get the finsih ready for the final application. apply the selant. let it sit for 20 minutes, remove. Don't put it on too heavy, thinner is better. Gary
