Default $20,000 over sticker?

Here is a Lotus Elise I put my paint sealant on today, their is a 2 year wait for this car. sticker is $40,000 and they are taking orders for $60,000. I think its insane, but the public is falling over each other to get a test drive. I would not believe it if it were not for the fact that a guy came in off the street and in less than 5 minutes he wrote a deposit for one. Maybe its because of the finish on this car that makes it worth that much? [8]

From that angle it looks like a 73 Vette

[8)] probably also something to do with the fact that it can do 0 to 60 in around 4 secs.

Mostly it's because Lotus is finally going back to the late, great Colin Chapman's original thinking: Make it simple, make it light, and it will be fast and handle like a champ. That car, in US trim, only makes about 160HP, but it weighs next to nothing so the power to weight ratio is incredible. Gary, I'm sure you noticed the interior is not exactly what you would call "luxurious" by any stretch of the imagination. I think you can just about stack two of these into the back of a PT....with our back seats of course.[8D]

Just a foot note about the interior, I'm 6' 4" and I couldn't get behind the wheel. Mike, you are right it looks more like a fancy go-cart inside. Gary

IMHO, for that kind of money, I'm not impressed.
Considering it's a Toyota engine.

Guys/Gals,

A PT person calling a car ugly is really stupid considering how offensive our cars are to much of the population.

Also, what is wrong with a Toyota engine? That thing will probably outlast our engines by a decade!!!

This car is probably the best auto-x capable car you can buy. I'm suprised that you couldn't get in at 6 foot 4 as I've seen two videos with guys who were that height and taller and they had no problem...then again, their head was mightly close to the top!

Cheers,
LIP
