I use the balck magic titanium high gloss tire shine or the Meguair's High gloss tire shine. Both of them are wipe on gel applications. Ive been using this for years no problems... only thing I hate is the slinging after you apply it, it gets on the car but it wipes off no problem.

Exclamation Re: Tire Dressing

Hey crusierdad76,

I just wanted to confirm, Armor All is an Oil Based Dressing which contains Solvents, alcohol, and petroleum distillates. The OSHA Material Safety Data Sheets for many Armor All products relating to Tire Dressings indicate a range from Flammable, to Extremely Flammable.

A good example is Armor All Protectant Foam - Natural Shine.

The ingredients are as follows:

1. Sodium Nitrate
2. Propane
3. Isobutane
4. Dimethyle Ether

Classification as:

Extremely Flammable: Risk Level 12

Here is the Data Sheet PDF

http://www.a1motorstores.co.uk/shop-...ctant_Foam.pdf

And a couple more related products:

Armor All Tire Foam:

http://www.tooled-up.com/Artwork/Pro...AMA47670EN.pdf

Armor All Wheel Protectant:

http://www.armorall.com.au/images/li...Protectant.pdf

I have unfortunately seen it happen twice during my career where colleagues of mine had applied an Oil Based Dressing to the engine compartment, and had it ignite, causing serious damage to the vehicle. On the tires, and trim, it is a different story, but I can't stress enough to be extremely careful in what you use to dress your engine compartment! Water Based Dressings are by far safer around high heat sources, and highly recommended for these types of applications! Just Please use caution.

Thank you, and take it easy!

I too like Meguair's. You can get it anywhere not the same for some of the others. I always let it just sit overnight to keep the slinging down. After one drive or so the shinney plastic effect is tamed down and it looks great. Shinny is probably not cool with the young folks but I wear pants that fit me as well, so I am not cool already.

In reference to what Candyman posted on the MSDS's. I believe that the specs are for the unapplied product in the aerosol can. The propane and isobut are probably used as propellants. Wanna empirical test on the products after it's applied? Take two paper towels, spray one of the aforementioned products on one. Light off both. You didn't get that from me.

Thanks candyman I never thought to look at a msd sheet, P What i use is the non aresol pump bottles what i was basing my comments on was that in winter time a bottle of armor all will freeze solid
either way no matter what i use driving on gravel roads usally kills the shinny look anyway

CandyMan,

Thanks for the explanation. The "cracking" happened to my tires when I first purchased my PT, used. I assumed that it had set up for a while and wasn't being driven. It looked like dry-rotting and the tread was excellent. So, this is why I assumed it wasn't being driven at all.

Anyway, what water-based product do you recommend?

Thx

I use meguiars high endurance tire gel. best water based in my opinion would be meguiars hyper dressing. you can adjust the shine by it's dilution ratio.
High Gloss 1:1
Medium Gloss 2:1
Satin Finish 3:1
Natural Finish 4:1
