Default Removing the dealer label

I would like to remove this. I was wondering that should I do it myself or a professional? I don't want to remove any of the paint. If I can remove it, should I just carefully peel it or are there any chemicals I can use that will safely remove the label but not the paint.

I asked the dealer remove mine, no charge.

The alternative is, after washing your car to remove any dirt around or near the decal, to use a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the decal and adhesive and after initially heating for a few minutes (don't overheat the area or get too close) very carefully lift the edge, and pull the decal as you heat it. If it gets to hot it will rip. Let it cool a little and continue. In most cases it should remove easily. If you are afraid of your fingernails scratching the paint when trying to lift a corner of the decal, just use an pencil eraser or plastic razor blade on the corner of the decal instead so you can lift enough of the decal to grab it with your fingers. Use a solvent (bug and tar remover, paint thinner, or goo gone works fine) to remove any adhesive left on the paint. Then rewash your car and rewax it. Just take your time.

I suppose different dealers may use different types of stickers, but Carmax's stickers pealed right off, no problem.

we are assuming it is a paper label, if it is a plastic chrome type label, use dental floss. then follow Sci fi's instructions removing adhesive.

Real thin fishing line works great too. Just "floss" the emblem off. You can park the car in the sun and the emblem and surrounding metal will get very hot, softening the adhesive. [8D]

Thanks. It was a paper foil type, which actually came off very easy. I used the head of a golf tee to pull up an edge to start peeling it. There was very little adhesive that was left, which I was able to remove by rubbing on the gum until it came off. I thought it was more of a difficult task, becuase the sticker had a plastic clear covering over it, which made it appear (to me) that it was going to be difficult to remove.

I'm surprised that many dealers are still placing stickers on cars - I thought most were useing license plate frames. When I bought my first new car, back in 1984, I told the dealer I didn't want their amazingly ugly sticker on my car. They told me that they put their sticker on EVERY car they sell. I told them if they wanted to put advertising on my car I would have to charge them $50/month for the privilege. My car was delivered without a sticker

It is much less common to find dealers putting stickers on new cars (other than license plate frames) in CA than in TX. In Texas, most dealers will slap that ugly decal or chrome plastic name plate on everything that comes in. I have also found that either telling them you won't buy it if it has their name on it or telling them you will charge them an advertising fee will usually change their mind.
