I tried to clean with regular products like Windex. Originating somewhere between the paper towels and Windex, some "fog" remains. I also tried Invisible Glass with newspaper with slightly improved results. Also the residue of bugs and junk does not completely come off and "pit marks" appear when driving in to the sunshine. What is your favorite method of obtaining perfect sparking windhields?

I would check here: http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/.
The best thing I can tell you is take 2oz. of denatured alchol mix with 30 oz. of distilled water in a spray bottle. Spray and use one of those scrunggie pot scrubbers. I purchased mine at the $ store for six of them. It makes your windows sparkle. I hope I got this correct Gary!!! |

one tip I found in another forum was to clean the outside windows in a vertical motion and clean the inside windows in a horizontal motion (inside the rear window, horizontal motions may be safer for the defroster)... that way if you see streaks you know which side of the window is the problem. Doesn't directly answer your question, but streaks drive me crazy! I have tried windex and the sprayway cleaner. I like windex better, and have a hard time keeping sprayway "streak-free" unless I clean the window exceedingly fast... unless my technique is off. I have used rain-x from day one also, which some folks have a problem with. But if applied correctly, I have had great success, and it seems to keep bugs and tar from sticking, as well as making driving the the great Pacific NorthWet easier and safer!

Clevelandmike; If you look at glass under a micro scope you will see that it looks like the moon, crater city. What happens is dirt/bug residue/ etc gets imbedded in the glass, making it impossible to clean with regular procedures we are used to. The best single thing you can do is to clay your glass. I sell clay on my web site, some people tell me it is hard to find at local auto stores. After you clay the glass, clean it with my denatured alcohol mixture. Use a micro fiber towel, sometimes using the wrong towel will result in poor outcome. I have a product that is NOT on my web site which is the best I have ever used on glass. It is called by name Perfect Auto Finish chrome sealer, but don't let the name fool you, it is the best glass sealant around. By sealing the glass, you fill in all those tiny craters that allow dirt to get trapped in the glass. after you follow these instructions you will have slick, sealed, shiny glass. [?]

I have had good luck using regular body polish on the windshield. Seems to keep things from sticking as much and seals pockmarks (small ones only).[:I]

Gary,
Sent you a PM about the chrome sealer. Also, what is the difference between the poly sealer and paint sealer sold on your 'site? Thanks.

The Paint sealer is the final application after a finish is cleaned/clayed/polished and ready to preserve. It needs 15 minutes on the car to cure before you remove it. It will give you 6 months of protection.
The poly seal has some of the polymers that are in the paint sealant but also has some cleaning properties. In addition it is quick dry, so you spray it on and wipe off. It does not have as high of resins as the paint sealant. By itself it will last 30 days, but on top of the paint seal, it acts as a refreshening agent to prolong the beauty and enhance the finish longer. It is for the pefectionist to keep the Perfect Auto Finish in top form.
