Default Winter Car washing?

Gang (mainly Gary),

Living in the northern-midwest, the winters are tough on cars. What's my best bet to get the salt, slush, yuck off my car without sacrificing my paint and wax?

Is it ok to pull into a do it yourself wash bay, use the wand, rinse, turn to soap, back to rinse and then dry it? I know not to use the brush they provide.

Any advice is welcome!

Thanks

Living here in Nebraska myself I use the hand held car washes in the winter also.I was told to keep the nozzle at least 6 inches away and try not to get soap on your pillars.Winter sucks

Arthur, in winter we have to deal with lots in inconveniences. Going to the "do it yourself wash" is the best option. They have regular car wash soap in those bays, unlike the "touchless" wash which is stocked with acids and high alkelines. I have heard of many instances where the chemicals are set too strong, or one is empty, which is creates a bad situation. If its freezing, don't hand dry the car, chances are the power wash won't get all dirt off and you will scratch the finish. Gary
