Default Swirl Marks?

I've tried and tried to get rid of these swirl marks I noticed in my careless washing once. And now they show up again after I wash the car the next time.
I wash, dry with Micro Fiber towels large, and then sit in the sun and go over the car with the paint cleaner and sealer.
Then the car looks great.
Two weeks later it has swirl marks again.

What do I have to do to get rid of these.

Gary, anyone?? [:I]

I'm no expert,I believe the swirl marks are imperfections
in the paint. The paint cleaner hides the marks for a while.
I dont think you can get them out by hand ,they have to be buffed out
with some type of swirl remover and a buffer. The buffer creates heat which removes a layer of paint than you have to polish and seal .
I'm just learning this stuff so don't take my word for it.Gary
will give you a better answer. How did I do Gary?

No expert either, but I've had great luck with a clay bar. Keep clay bar moist and you have to re-polish after.

Both are good suggestions, yes.

I like clay but Im not sure if this removed it.

I don't want to use a high speed buffer because Im afarid I will mess it up.

Thanks

Colby, clay will do nothing for imperfections "IN" the finish. My paint cleaner is not designed to remove swirls, a more aggressive cleaner along with a buffer is the most effective method for removing swirls. I won't go so far to say its impossible to do my hand, but I will say unless you are experienced using these types of products, you can do more harm than good. It would be best to find a reputable shop near you and get them out professionally. Gary

Gary,
Do you have any idea on how I got them in the first place?

Well I know your paint cleaner has removed minor swirls for me in the past.

What precautions should I take in the future to make sure I don't get them back once gone?

Thanks

An x custom van shop owner told me that the micro fiber towels might be to blame? Could this be true?

He pointed out one of the towels tags and the edge were they are sown together could scratch something.

You may want to email me personally on this Gary.

Any final product that you use that appears to remove swirl marks and the swirl marks reappear when you wash your car has fillers in it. In other words it acts like a glaze and hides/fills any small imperfections in the paint. As Gary mentioned, it is better to take your car to a professional to remove the swirl marks.

As far as the microfiber towels, you mentioned that the "labels" are still attached to the towel. You must remove them or the label will scratch your paint (unless you are very careful and only use one side of the towel). There are microfiber towels now available that have no stitched seamsand microfiber towels that have stick-on labels instead of being stitched on (labels are required by law, but the customer/buyer can remove them). So if you are also concerned about the stitching or hard to remove labels possibly scratching your paint, buy those microfiber towels instead.

King,LIke Sci Fi says, you should go to a pro shop to remove the swirls. How did they get there? I can write a book on how swirls are introduced into a finish. Here are some common ones
Not pre-soaking the car pior to washing
Using a dirty wash mitt or using a sponge
Not claying the car prior to drying
Drying with any towel other than micro fiber (terri will scratch)
Going to automatic car wahses
Not properly removing contaminants before drying
Using the wrong supplies
Using too abrasive of chemials
Wrong technique in using a buffer/
Using a wool pad
I can go on and on, but you get the picture
I went in my supply room and checked my MF towels, NONE have labels on them. If any got in with labels, LIke Sci Fi says, they should removed. That is common sense. For the remord, my mf towels are the highest quality on the market. People that have used other ones and mine, have commented on how much nicer mine are. Hope that helps. Gary
