I have been cleaning my interior panels lately with a light misting of 409 and a cloth. I do not use armor-all as it seems to leave a good bit of residue on the windows, which is a pain to take off. Is there a better way of going about cleaning the interior? Is there some product out there that will restore small scratches and dings?

ChromedCruiser/ WARNING! using a strong alkyline surfactant like 409 or simple green is way to aggressive for leather material. That is why I sell a mild leather cleaner safe for leather and vinyl. what can happen with 409 is the alkyline will dry out the leather quickly and it will start to crack and split. I don't know many safe cleaners, as I visit pep boys and auto zone often. I think meguiars makes one. always follow up with a conditioner as well. dings you can't fix yourself, dentbusters will do that for you, the process is technical, but in short they push the dent out from behind. scratches, if they don't go through the clear coat can be fixed, if they go through it, it can be improved at best. essentially you would still need experience with a buffer to do it right. you are limited to what you can do my hand, you might cover it up for a while but after a wash it will return. It must be too early for you! Not the seats, the door panels! This is of some interest to me also. If I don't get the dog slobber off soon enough it dries into a real nice hard crust. Right now I am using orange crush and that works great. I then follow up with a protectant. |

About the scratches on the paint and stuff... I was cleaning my car, and then stupidly decided to use a washcloth to dry off some parts. (I use MR. Clean Autodry) and after wards I noticed some weird scratches on the right rear quarter panel and the hood. Needless to say, the car still needed to be washed because the filter was exhausted, so I took it to a drive through car wash. (not high pressure spray) and they are still there. Will they come off when do an all out detail with your products? (clay bar, paint cleaner, sealant, poly whatever, and everything else) If not, is it possible to get patriot blue paint from the dealer and touch it up?

Thanks bigdogdad, always count on a big dog for back-up. I am talking about the interior door panels, and the entire console. The scratches and dings I'm inquiring about are also on the interior panels.

Taylor, the dealer has the touch up paint in both brush on, and spray can. I don't know how much the brush on one is, but the spray can is about $10 with tax. Just goto the dealership and give them your VIN #, and they'll give you an exact match. Oh, and Gary advises if you us the brush on type, get an artist brush instead.

Chrome, you can use what you are using on the side panels, as long as no leather is there. My car is material is I don't know if they used leather there or not. Taylor, washcloth???? oh boy, thats bad. Those light scratchs should come out with the paint cleaner unless you put 50lbs of pressure under on it while rubbing.

I have a suggestion. I use a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. I simply wet it and use it to clean the plastic on the doors. I dont touch the leather/suedish accents on the doors, but let me tell you it gets all the crap off....any issues with this?
