Was under the hood today, and noticed that my grille looks very dull. The horizontal pieces seem to be sort of rough, and there is some slight pitting. The lower grille is the most dull looking of all. Is there some sort of polish or process I can use to make it shine again and take away some of the roughness?

Wash, scrub, Clay bar, piant cleaner, polish, wax.

That's a billet grill, right? Not chrome? The winter will produce some pitting, as will stones. Clay bar, even rubbing compound, then good layer of polish.

Be Careful with rubbing compound, you could easily rub the finish right off. Try my chrome cleaner/sealer/ that will do the trick for you. Gary

Thanks fellas. Yes, it is Billet, and there were no instructions for cleaning. I'm a little apprehensive about using rubbing compound, would steel wool or a brilo pad be a good idea? I will definately give some polish a try.

I'd start with clay bar. I feel rubbing compound would be less likely to scratch than a brillo pad - just do it by hand and don't "lean into it".

mothers mag and aluminum polish. use it in a small section. if it turns black, keep going, if not stop.
