Default Chrome Fading

On the passenger side, the painted interior piece's PT Cruiser chrome is fading. Its gradually becoming patriot blue. What can I do? Is there any chrome spray type thing or what?

Taylor, did you use any chemicals on it. strange that it would fade by itself. The only thing you can do is get them repainted at a body shop. Gary

if you're talking about the little logo on the airbag cover, mine is fading (to red in my case) as well. don't know what the previous owner did/didn't do. mine is also a 2001; coincidence? i'm pretty sure the "chrome" is just silver paint which has worn off with age, or something like that.

If you're talking the airbag cover, I think you would have to buy a whole new piece. The lettering is molded in. Hubby found that out when the wife of the owner of the Buffalo Bills, (who has a VERY cool custom Cruiser!) wanted him to do some striping on it, but to take that off first.

It would have involved too much physical change to the cover, and considering the involvement of the airbag, and not knowing how it would affect its performance, liability issues were high.

Probably because I'm more of the artsy-farsty type person, the first thing I thought of was to leaf it. I know they have leafing kits at the local craft stores, complete with size and whatever color leaf. Get a real good brush and a steady hand, don't know why it wouldn't work.
