Default Thinking about applying to a detail shop

I really need a steady income because gas is draining my pockets of any profit from what Im doing now. (Weekend detailing for my friends and the such) Would the town Detailer consider hiring a 17 year old kid like me? Would you, Gary?

Taylor, I would hire you in a heart beat, anyone who has a passion for this type of work is a perfect canidate. I already have a young lad (19 years old) working for me and he is excellant. Makde sure you apply to a qualified shop that is practicing proper detailing techniques, no sense in learning bad habits. Good Luck. Gary

I just got back from the detailer. I filled out an application, the boss spoke with me and I got the job. I start tomorrow.

If you are in Phoenix, and want to detail a PT in the Phoenix area, and really care about the job you do, I would love to get my red beast looking top notch again. I seem to remember you are in Phoenix aren't you?

Yes, I am in the Phoenix area. Fountain Hills to be exact. The shop is called Francis & Sons car wash on Shea blvd near st. route 87. If you bring it by, I can do it for free. (I get paid hourly, and the boss doesnt care what I do)
Im pretty much my own boss. The job is as follows. I am customer service at the wash section until someone wants a detail and I go do it. Its pretty much half and half. The good thing is I dont have to wash it. Its great.Hopefully Ill be able to take some pictures of the cool cars that i detail.
If anyone wants a detail that lives in the Phoenix area, bring it by and Id love to do it. (Gets me away from the customers)

TaylorMade,
I'd be really surprised if the boss truly does not care what you do while you're "on the clock". I'd be even more surprised if he let you detail cars for free when they would normally pay the shop for the same service. What I would expect is that the boss would be very impressed if more customers came to the shop because you are good at detailing and his business increased.
congratulations and good luck,
Phil

Its kinda hard to explain, but the boss doesnt know whats going on. Its not bad. Cars come through the car wash, and if the guy wants a detail, i go do it. The boss guy doesnt think to charge him
