If you wait to remove the carcess of the bugs on the front of your car, you will be in trouble. The remains of the bugs have acids that will destroy your finish sooner than you think. I have seen this recently and no matter how good the detailer is, its too late. It will "etch" the clear coat and eat right through it. So when you get back from a trip. wash with soap and water using a plastis net sponge and rinse. If you still see the remains, use an allpurpuse cleaner, then try a solvent based cleaner as last resort. Follow with a wax or sealant. Gary

I remember 20+ years ago, kids would set up roadside stands to clean the lovebugs off the windshield. They would be so thick on some of the rural highways around Orlando that you would run through a patch and the whole windshield would be covered. I used to carry Windex and a rag with me in April and September.
Back on track. I've made the mistake of leaving bugs on the front of my car for an extended period.[:0] Wound up buying a car bra for my black Ranger to cover up most of the damage.

We're really jacking the thread now. On the turnpike, there's special water stations at rest stops that are free. You pull your car up and a shower head automatically splashes loads of water on the windshield while you run your wipers to get the windshield clean enough to drive on. Doesn't do anythng for the grill and paintwork though.
