Default Issues with filling up my CRD (UK)

Hello,

i have recently bought a '05 cruiser limited 2.2 crd and just been to fill it up for the first time and the diesel nozzle doesn't fit into the filler pipe very well? when you put it in as far as it will go it clicks off every 2 seconds like the tank is full. I had to hold the nozzle out of the pipe and point it at pipe to get it to fill. I was definately using the car one, it was as if i was trying to fill a petrol car with diesel nozzle.

Is this normal?

Hi i had the same problem's 5 year's ago when i got my CRD, the nozzle only goes so far but you start off filling up slowly then increase the flow. The pump cut's out due to an air lock or blow back at the nozzle this is normal.

I had a neon that did the same thing, turns out at some point the filler neck itself was replaced, and the tubing used was a smaller diameter than the original, which caused a vaccume blow back.

Just gotta fill her slow. Fine in the summer, cold to do in the winter :-)

Its really really slow to fill, unless i hold the nozzle and point it down the hole, it works fine then but usually ends up with diesel on the floor once the tank fills.

I had a look and i think i may have the same problem the mother in laws voyager had where the metal cap falls off the filler cap and goes down the pipe restricting flow. Might get my flexi bit of wire and have a poke around.

I've experienced the same thing at certain filling stations - usually I just pull the handle out just a tad. Must have something to do with air backing up the nozzle while the diesel is flooding in!
