Default Oil change CRD

OK I guess there's a good few here that will do their own oil changes but looking into the cost I ask is it worth it. National Tyres charge 66 for a filter and 7 litres of Castrol Edge 5W40 Fully Synthetic.

National Tyres and Autocare UK

Now looking into the DIY approach I see that the oil itself is 36 for 4 litres.
Castrol Edge Turbo Diesel Fully Synthetic 5W40 Engine Oil (4 Litre) on eBay!

Adding the cost of filter, I question;
1. Why would you do this yourself?
2. Are National really using that oil and how would I know?
3. Is it worth the extra 8 to get an engine flush?

I never cared about this kind of stuff with my other cars, really want this one not to blow up!!!

I stopped doing my own oil changes years ago for exactly that reason: I can usually have it done for about the same cost as buying the oil and filter, sometimes less. And I don't have to get under the car or worry about disposing of the used oil.
I suppose the only way to know for sure that National really used the oil you paid for would be to draw out a small amount and have it tested after they change it.
I think the engine flush is worth the extra money. Maybe not every time you have the oil changed, but certainly the first time.

well I change my own for a few reasons and none are cost reated
1> I decide what to put in my car
2>I decide what filter
3> If I screw it up its still my car
4> I look around under the car to check the other stuff
5>This is a biggee I have a rack

I like doing it myself its really that simple I know it was done the way I wanted and I know what I put in it
but im a Old Missouri Red Neck who will power wash my 4x4 Tractor and armor all the tires

Totally get that and if I knew what I was doing and had the time I guess I'd do it myself also. I do however wash it myself rather than take it to a car wash!!!

there's a flap in the centre of the skidpan that hides the sump drain plug - my advice is to take the whole skidpan off as the flap isn't really big enough
