Default Speedo Issue

Hi guys, had a speedo issue for a while now, like it doesnt work!
its was fine then phut , car had a brain fart and the damn thing stopped. Odometer was still reading slowly ( 1 mile every 60!). then bing and alarm came up at 1 mile, saying my speed sensor wasnt working, anyway bought a new one and after a lot of faffing around got it fitted, and NOTHING!

So im trying to work out the wiring , i have the service manual for the 2.0l 2002
vehicle that i have ( limited edition) trying to find C101 & C102 , noe they are supossed to be by the gear box , towards the front of the vehicle, ones black to other is grey. Can i find them NO!
Anyway ive put a meter on the 8v and gnd and read 5 volts, which is what there should be for the 1.6L, im just wonder in the damn things decide to turn into a 1.6 over night!
Ive done every reset and diagnostic test under the sun, but intil i find these damn connectors i cant fix it.
i recon its a duff connector somewhere as when its damp i get more of a reading on the speedo.
the sender is working fime ( brand new) and so is the old one. so i recon its this 5v nonsense , also does anyone have any idea where the Powertrain control module is, i cant see that either ( also part of this damn circuit!)

If i do find them ill post where the hell they are. Unless someone can help me.
thanks
Mark

cheers randyincctx,
thought it was that looked it up in the manual!
Still cant find C102 & c101 and ive looked at C2 connector and nothing matches on that.
Ive got 3 plugs on the unit black, Green, Orange & White coloured labels.
This doesnt tie in with the manual either, ok its a british car , but why is is so different. Nearly everything else has matched up sofar.

Ok its a 2002-3 version, was looking at 2002 manual.
so now im confused!

Its says 2.0l on the back of the car, paperworks somewhere else to check.

Anyway found its the Black / Black connector pin 13 for the signal from the sender, stuck a meter on it and Nowt, so it looks like a broken wire some where , which ties in with the thing i said earlier about when it was damp i almost got a reading.
now to find the 2005 manual.

actually its the 2.0l i think limited edition.
not had much chance to look at it recently its been parked up out of the way.
so why is it so different to the service manual, i though that had all the xport versions in it a s well.
by the way the green one is blank on mine , i think thats for the turbo section.

By the way; We're glad to have you here as a member.....But,you might also want to check out the UK PT forums (similar cars, engines, and problems/solutions) like these websites:
UK Cruisers Club web site dedicated to the Chrysler PT Cruiser
PT Cruiser Club UK - Chrysler PT Cruiser Accessories - Events - Forum & More - Free membership
That way you can keep your PT in 'Bristol Fashion'....

cheers old bean.
Looks like their sites gone belly up dash it all!
Actually i've been on here for a couple of years now, was going to join another uk forum but they wanted to charge me for joining cheeky buggers!

Really could do with fixing this problem, found some info on Google and the pin outs are completely different to whats in the book.
Anyway just to keep our colonial partners happy ill change my profile picture to something more typically British.

and yes petroleum guzzlers in the uk are shunned as its about $10+ USD a us gallon over here. that on top of the $400 for road tax and $600+ for insurance a year , plus the parking fines for even being parked near to someone who once parked next to some one who had seen a red zone, plus congestion charges, and .... oh my good im depressing myself!
Tally ho!
