Default How to make rear fog lights work? Any ideas about fuse or wires?

Hi:

I have a 2005 2.2 CRD Limited European PT. I've already suffered the burning Multifunction switch issues, replaced it and FRONT fog lights are running fine.

But rear ones not. The #8 fuse in the inside fuse box is missing and non wired.

Any other had this issue? How to solve it?

According to my Owners manual (in the U.S.) the No#21 fuse (20 Amp yellow) is for Fog Lights on the Export Model (meaning you). Try that fuse.

Thanks Crewzin!

I've opened the PDC and located the fuse but it is in mint condition. Then, I've dismounted the inside fuse box just to see if something was rare in the back and it seems normal. But, the #8 fuse has no wires, no connector. So I think the correct one is the one you point out, and as it is OK I have to continue chasing the fault. Next suspect is the MFS contact for the rear fog lights. The forward ones work perfectly.

Any more suggestions?

Thanks!

JP

We have NO rear fog light over here in the U.S. (although I had to add one to my Corvette when I took it over to England but dismantled it when i came back) so not sure where to tell you to look. Our MFS doesn't even have a rear fog light turn-on switch so that must be different too.

Best place to start is the rear lamp itself to see if the bulb is intact and if there's any power getting back there when you turn it on.

Looking at a 2004 year electrical schematic, the rear-fog circuit is:

battery
PDC fuse #22, 20 amp
pk/lg wire to MFS switch, pin #13

(this is common pin for front and rear fog-light power. However, the front and rear circuits use different output pins)

MFS switch pin #12 br/wt wire (color continues to light)
connector C202 br/wt wire (white, left kick panel)
connector C303 br/wt wire (dk gray, left rear quarter)
fog-light connector/ bulb filament
bk wire to ground
S306 splice (near turn-out for license plate lamp)
G300 ground (left rear quarter)

Fuse #8 is not used in vehicles with 'headlight leveling', a non-USA feature.
