Default PRND light.....

Hello! **Waves from across the pond**

Please forgive the newbie question- I just got a beautiful 2002 PT and wondered if the light on the dash in the centre (automatic) is supposed to stay illuminated?

I had a power drain and had to bump start today.

I had also left the light dimmer switch on and wonder if that could have drained it.

Best regards
Claire

Claire,

Since your waving from across the pond, I take it your from England or somewhere in Europe.

On this side (USA) of the pond, we don't have a PRND display on the dash. We have the mileage there. The P-R-N-D-3-1 display is by the shifter (automatic) that's on the floor.

So, I've moved your post to the European section of the forum and hopefully yo can get some answers on that display from there.

On the other hand, yes, if you leave the light dimmer switch ON it turns on the overhead lights even without the key in the ignition and you will certainly run down the battery if they are left on too long.

i found a video of a US 2003 GT with the indicator there. crewzin, are you sure? for what its worth, i could only find this option on 2003 or newer auto/turbo cars

in the video it stays illuminated.

my 5 speed PT does not have the display there, but i can say for sure the odometer numbers only have bright and dim, and always remain illuminated. does the odometer also disappear ?

I stand (or sit) corrected. Nothing I ever saw showed the PRND letters in the display until you just posted it. Not sure why they would do that for the turbo models? Strange.

Should the PRND stay even when the key is out? I'm trying to find my battery drain... Fog lights fuse is out.... New battery installed....

Naughty Cruiser.
