Angry Poor diesel starting

Please can someone assist. I have a 2002 cruiser with a 2.2 CRD engine, it's been fine until now, but has become difficult to start, takes up to 30 seconds. The heater light comes on and goes off in the normal time frame, the engine cranks over at the same speed. I have changed the fuel filter and the glow plugs but there is still no change. Once the engine starts it's fine it just takes awhile any advice would be gratefully received

Have you tried an injector cleaner? Another possibility is that there could be a wiring problem and glow plugs aren't getting power....
So, once warm it restarts okay? That really points to glow plugs - I know you replaced them, don't know how to check they are working...

Make sure that you got all the air out of the fuel system from when you changed the fuel filter.

Quicksilverdon made an excellent suggestion to try a diesel fuel injector cleaner. AMSOIL offers an excellent one AMSOIL Diesel . Also, has it recently turned cold in your area? You might have summer blend diesel in your fuel tank and might need winter blend. Also make sure the diesel cetane number where you fill meets the cetane requirement of your engine. Low cetane can also cause starting problems and AMSOIL offers a Cetane Boost as well.
