Default 2.2 CRD 2002 electric problem

Hi, everybody!
Finally my 2002 2.2 CRD has arrived, but there is a problem with electrics, I suppose.
When turn the key once (giving contact) everything works fine (wipers, heating fan, windows going up and down, turn signal, etc.) but when I start the engine, everything stops working...
Fuses are ok, only the fog fuse is broken.

Happy new year to all of you!

Welcome to the cruiser world. Greetings from NW Pacific USA.

When the ignition switch is rotated to start, many of the cars electrical functions are temporarily disconnected. I assume this is to reserve the power for the starting system.

As long as everything works when the car is running, all is OK.
If systems are totally failed, you may need an ignition switch.

My problem is quite opposite; when I start the engine, some things stop functioning (wipers, windows, etc.).

Still likely to be ignition switch, as they go bad fairly often.
Does radio display go off? That is common with bad switches.
Try pushing in on the key and see if that helps.

I've tried that, but it didn't help. Also, when I turn the lights on while engine is running, the mileage digital numbers become almost invisible.

You were right!
I've tried to push the key again and it solved the problem.
While the engine was running, I've moved the key for about one millimeter to the left and everything worked just fine.

Thank you!

That's great, but it indicates the switch is on its way out. There are threads on here of people who've replaced theirs - not too expensive/difficult.

I was wondering, would it be smart to replace it with the ignition push start button switch?

Not sure - you'd still need key to turn to "ON", just use button for "START", right? Not sure that would help.
Look at how long original switch lasted - key rings with lots of keys on them seem to shorten the life of the switches.
