Default My PT has been written off :(

Hello

Two weeks ago as I accelerated out of a 30mph zone the car in front decided for no reason to stop dead!

I was crushed between it and a van behind me!

Petie's front and rear bumper were split, his front grille broken and his radiator split!

Today my insurance company have written him off

I spent 200 the previous day on a service and a new turbo inlet pipe! Not to mention the 4K engine rebuild 18 months ago...

So I had to get another car... my head said 60mpg 2003 Renault Megan, but my heart said PT!!!!

I found a 2006 Route 66 I fancied, but decided the mileage I do (150/day) wouldn't be right on a car that Chrysler only made 50 of.

Then I found a 2008 convertible running on LPG, so sensible fuel cost, but then I discovered the 490/year road tax! Ouch! Megans are only 30/year...

However, my heart won and tomorrow I collect a Black 2003 CRD Limited with factory fitted Chrome Accents Package - grille, fuel cap, side darts, door lock pins and door sills all chrome

I'm happy again!

Best regards
Michael

" 2008 convertible running on LPG, so sensible fuel cost, but then I discovered the 490/year"

You may want to recheck that. If it has been converted to LPG tax on cars after a certain date are linked to CO2 emissions.

All it would need is an update to the DVLA in Swansea.

3. Cars registered on or after 1 March 2001
The rate of vehicle tax is based on fuel type and CO2 emissions.

CO2 emission details are shown on the car’s V5C registration certificate, or you can find emission details online.

Petrol car (TC48) and diesel car (TC49)

Sorry to hear of the demise of your PT. I hope you made out ok with the insurance company? You should have been able to take the receipts for the recent work, even the engine rebuild from 18 months ago, to them and they should have taken that into account on the settlement.

Glad you got another PT, please post some pics when you get it
