Unhappy Thermostat

The heating in my 2.2 PT Diesel is a bit luke warm and I was looking into getting a new Stat.
I've just been quoted 85 (as they only supply the complete housing).

My question is does anybody know a cheaper way to replace the Thermostat?

(also, while i'm here! I've looked everywhere for a repair manual for the 2.2 diesel cruiser 2006 but can't find one anywhere... any idea?)

THANKS!

i would shop on ebay for a cheaper one.
THERMOSTAT 2.2 CRD CHRYSLER PT CRUISER 2002-2007 DIESEL | eBay

only other option i could think of would be an "inline thermostat"

Man, that inline thermostat is the BOMB, Rob. I had no idea such a thing existed. There are a few cars I owned over the past 45 years that I would have GLADLY put one of those in! Where the hell can you get one?

Thanks for the tip, Jerry. I had no idea such a great thing existed. My oldest brothers name was Jerry. He was my favorite out of the 4 I had. He died a couple of years ago. I miss him.

So sorry to hear you lost a brother, Chuzz. That's got to be very hard to take.

I have used a couple of the inline thermostats over the last few years on some of my customers cars (not PTs). In this case I just googled 'inline automotive thermostats' and came up with several sources. Most of them were the same brand. I bought mine from a local speed shop in this area.

Thanks

Jerry
